Black & Decker CMM1200 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) I bought this, hoping to skip the gasoline smell and fumes and have had little but angst with it.First the flimsy handle broke, then the entire handle assembly was replaced (on warranty, at least) with a new stronger assembly, then after 13 months I needed a new battery, now, 6 months later, even though my battery is charged, the damn thing is dead.So far, 8 trips to the service center. I must be making as much in funmes from my car as I am saving with an electric mower.

Black & Decker LST220 12-Inch 20-Volt Lithium -Ion Cordless GrassHog Trimmer/Edger (Lawn & Patio) I wanted a cordless trimmer for some time but couldn’t justify it since I had 2 gas trimmers, both in ‘will not start’ condition. Plus a have a corded Black and Decker electric trimmer. But I was window shopping and was looking at the cordless trimmers and reading reviews in order to see if anyone was reporting high line usage. The worst thing I saw was that the batteries would not last very long. There was a super good price listed and I ordered it and I am glad I did. I charged one of the batteries in the daytime and chagred the other overnight. In the morning I loaded a battery into the trimmer and went to work. When I saw that the trimmer had a single strand cutting line I figured it was going to be wimpy. Surprisingly it torn into my lawn edges like the new kid on the block. I had allowed the grass to get a little long and trimming it was a good test. The cordless spun through all the edging in my backyard including the trimming the entire fenceline. The yard is 2000 sq ft and the first battery dies with just a little bit left to cut. When they are done, they are done. The things runs at peak speed then when the battery is done the trimmer stops, no gradual slow down. So I plugged in the 2nd battery and did one more minute and finished the entire backyard. My front yard is much smaller and the 95% left in the 2nd battery took me to the front yard work and did it all and had battery left over. I own a regular suburban house and there is nothing extrodinary about the property. Approx. 2700 sq ft of lawn and trimming around fenceposts and flower beds. The batteries took care of my needs. When I finished I re-charged both batteries and I am ready to go again. At the price I paid it is one of the best deals I have had in a long time.

That said, I thought it was well worth the money for sure. The batteries lasted longer than I expected… I own a combo set of cordless Ridgid lithium power tools, so I kinda know not to expect too much from any cordless tool and I am realistic about that. Yet, with two batteries, I always had enough juice to take care of weeds wherever and edge along my walkways as well . I didn’t even go through an entire spool of trimming line last summer… it was very hassle-free feeding too. Did I mention that it is very light too? It is!If you have a large property, then this may not be for you, but it is perfect for my needs – perfect for weekly casual property care. I honestly could not say that it wasn’t worth a 5-star rating to me. Highly recommended to any homeowner who doesn’t want to bother getting out 150 feet of extension cord or dealing with a gas trimmer.

Black & Decker CMM1200 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) I purchased the CMM1200 last year on clearance from Sears. On the first mowing, the battery died before finishing the spring grass on my 1/4 acre lot. The next charge took it a little further, but not enough to finish the area. The mower was not able to finish until the grass dried out a bit in the summer. I lowered the cut setting in the late summer, and when I went over the round surface of a concrete drainage pipe, the blade glanced the pipe. The blade cut into the soft plastic under plate and jammed the motor. A steel mower would have survived my mistake, but not this one. I had to cut away a section of the under plate, tape the hole, and order a new blade. Now I admit it was my mistake, but mowers need to be built to survive a common mishap like this… I do not recommend this mower unless the lot is very small and you are a very careful person.

Black & Decker NHT518 18-Volt 22-Inch Cordless Electric Hedge Trimmer (Lawn & Patio) I bought this in May, 2011 after reading good reviews from this website. However, after a few uses it suddenly smells and burns with smokes coming from inside the tool in the middle of trimming. It is terrifying. I was lucky enough to be able to let this tool rest in the middle of an empty spot in my yard, watch it, until all the smokes and smells are gone, before I throw it into the trash. For reader information, I was trimming the boxwoods when this happened.When this tool is working, it is really not as powerful as my corded hedge trimmer which I have used for more than 10 years.

Weed Eater GA2010 Gutter Cleaning Blower Attachment (Lawn & Patio) Works as advertised. Fits my Sears Craftsmen blower perfectly. The contraption is a bit clumsy but with a little patience works fine. Better than getting a ladder and crawling on the roof. I feel anything over one story probably would be more of challenge.

Black & Decker NS118 18-Volt Cordless Electric Broom Hard Surface Sweeper (Lawn & Patio) I love the fact that it is cordless and uses the same batteries as my other yard tools. Downside is the battery has to be changed every 10 minutes for big jobs, but I have 4 batteries, so that is not a big deal for me. It works well on hard surfaces as advertised, but is not very good for leaf blowing in grass.

Earthwise CB20018 18-Volt Cordless Blower (Lawn & Patio) This blower is better than I’d expected it to be. I bought it to simply clear leaves from my deck, driveway and garage and it handles those chores perfectly. I doubt that it would be strong enough to effectively clean a lawn, but for my limited needs, it’s just fine. A full charge keeps it going for a surprisingly-long time – - enough to do all three of my leaf-clearing demands. I’d like it to charge a bit faster (takes about 4 hours, I estimate), but that’s a minor concern.

Black & Decker BV2500 12 amp Electric Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher (Lawn & Patio) I purchased my B & D Leaf Blower BV2500 in 2001. It lasted 10 years with no breakdowns or repairs. I used it mostly for leaf pickup which means it got heavy use in the fall and springs seasons filling 20-25 bags per year. Finally, in the fall of 2011 the switch started to act up, the pins holding the bag in place wore down, and the bag started to tear. I retired this unit to the ‘Leaf Bagger Hall of Fame’ as it served me well for 10 years. I will be purchasing the exact model again this spring.

This blower/vac is electric, so it requires an extension cord and an electric outlet to run, but there’s nothing else to set up or maintain. The 12 amp motor has considerable power for its size, more than enough to clear driveways or decks or blow off sections of lawn. At just over 7 pounds, the Leaf Hog is light enough to use for long periods of time, and it’s also quiet enough to use at any time of day. Switching from blowing to vacuuming is a snap–literally. The correct button took us a moment to find, but once you’ve located it, you simply depress it and remove the blowing unit, then attach the vacuum extension in its place. The extension has a bag for mulch, which attaches with a small clasp. When vacuuming, the unit mulches by sucking leaves through the fan assembly. Though this model, with its patented Vortex anticlog vacuum system, does a better job of remaining unclogged than most, you still need to be careful to avoid rocks and sticks. It also has a variable-speed control that lets you choose between 150 and 200 mph blower speed.
